UN65F6300 vs UN65F6400; UN60F6300 vs UN60F6400; UN55F6300 vs UN55F6400

Most of the differences between Samsung F6300 and F6400 are negligible, except for the 3D capabilities of the latter one (and the lack thereof in the former). However, some of the distinctions affect the picture quality of the two sets, so they should be mentioned:

  • The F6400 has the Micro Dimming technology, which is a contrast enhancement tool that works by diving the screen into many zones, and it automatically adjusts the brightness level of each zone in accordance to the content that's being shown, so the final result is deeper black levels and brighter whites at the same time. That said, both have VA (Vertical Alignment) type of panels, which can deliver very good black color, so the absence of the Micro Dimming from the F6300 doesn't have much negative impact on the picture quality.
  • The discrepancy in the Clear Motion Rate of the two (the F6400 is rated at 480 CMR and the F6300: at 240 CMR) doesn't necessary translate to any huge difference in their performance when motion-based content is shown (e.g. sports and action-packed movies) since they both have panels with 120Hz native refresh rate. Still, the faster image processor (which is also required for the Micro Dimming) gives the F6400 a slight upper-hand over its opponent.
  • Both sets are Smart TVs, so you can use various applications, the S-Recommendation engine, or the full web browser on either of them. However, the F6300 comes only with the universal remote, so performing any Smart TV-related tasks will be significantly more difficult in comparison the F6400, which has the Smart touch remote with voice control.
