UN55F6800 vs UN55F6400; UN50F6800 vs UN50F6400; UN46F6800 vs UN46F6400 (Samsung F6800 vs F6400)

The only one "hardware" related difference between the Samsung F6800 and F6400 can be found in the clear motion rate, which is calculated by taking into account the scanning of the backlight, the image processor speed and the frame refresh rate. Since both F6800 and F6400 utilize panels with 120Hz native refresh rate, the 600 CMR on the former vs 480 CMR on the latter is a result of either the step-up device being equipped with more advanced image processor, or them having the backlight scanned at a different peace (which is less likely since Samsung, unlike other manufacturers, doesn't differentiate between the backlight scanning used in their TVs in any way). What is important is that due to the 120Hz panels, both of them are just as suitable for sports and action-movies, although the F6800 can go a (small) step further in the direction of blur-reduction. The remaining differences are limited to the aesthetics of the two TVs:

  • The see-through frame that surrounds the bezel in case of the F6800 makes its design quite unique, but it also somewhat diminishes the advantage of the F6800 having a thinner bezel in comparison to the step-down model.
  • The F6400 has a quad stand, which allows the set to be turned left or right. The higher-end set has the so-called Y-Feet stand, which doesn't allow the TV to be swiveled.
  • The both have the Micro Dimming for enhancing the contrast ratio, and the VA-type of panel ensures very good black level on either of them.
  • The Smart TV features are identical on both, as well as the number of inputs: 4 HDMI and 3 USB on each.
