55LN5400 vs 55LN5700; 50LN5400 vs 50LN5700; 47LN5400 vs 47LN5700

It should be said that both the LG LN5400 and LN5700 are Direct LED, as opposed to Edge LED, so due to having the light emitting diodes placed directly behind the panel (instead on the sides), they both are less likely to exhibit screen uniformity issues in comparison to their edge-lit counterparts. But let's see how the two differ from each other:
  • The LN5700 comes with the LG Smart TV platform, and it's Magic Remote Ready (the motion-controlled clicker is not included, but is can be purchased separately). The LN5400 is devoid of any smart TV features and it's compatible only with the standard remote.
  • The smart TV suite on the LN5700 is accompanied by the built-in Wi-Fi, and the dual-core processor provides for a lag-free interaction with any application. The step-down model doesn't have the ability to establish an Internet connection (neither wired, nor wireless), and its processor is a single core.
  • The LN5400 has 1 USB and 2 HDMI ports, while the step-up set has 3 USB and 3 HDMI inputs. The LN5700 is also DLNA certified and it supports WiDi for wireless streaming of content from compatible PC/laptop.
  • The sets in the 32- and the 39-Inch class from the LN5700 series have native refresh rate of 60Hz, thus they aren't particularly suitable for sports and action films. However, the rest of the range (42-Inch and above), as well as the entire LN5400 line, have 120Hz panels, so they can handle fast-motion quite well.
The LN5700 is available in the 55-Inch 55LN5700, the 50-Inch 50LN5700, the 47-Inch 47LN5700, the 42-Inch 42LN5700, the 39-Inch 39LN5700, and also in the 32-Inch 32LN5700 class.
The LN5400 comes in the 60-Inch 60LN5400, the 55-Inch 55LN5400, the 50-Inch 50LN5400, the 47-Inch 47LN5400, and finally the 42-Inch 42LN5400 size class.
