E600i-B3 vs M602i-B3 (Vizio E vs M series)

Both have full-array backlight as well as the ability to dim select portions of it, thanks to the local dimming technology. That said, the M602i-B3 has the advantage of having 32 active LED zones vs 16 of them on the E600i-B3, meaning the former can provide deep black levels under more complex scenarios involving multiple instances of both dark and bright elements being present within the same frame. The same is valid for the E600i-B3, albeit to a lesser degree. The smaller number of active LED zones and the absence of the Active Pixel Tuning technology, which the M602i-B3 is equipped with, lead to the contrast being lower on the E600i-B3, in addition to being more prone to blooming artifacts that may emerge as a result of dimming the LEDs. The maximum brightness on the E600i-B3 is 210 nits, while the M602i-B3 can reach 240 nits, which makes the latter slightly more suitable for brighter environments. The E600i-B3 has slight advantage over the M602i-B3 in terms of pixel response time: 4ms vs 6ms, respectively.

The E600i-B3 has an "effective refresh rate" of 120Hz while in case of the M602i-B3 it's 240Hz. That said, it's not to be confused with the native refresh rate, which Vizio does not specify. Both rely on backlight scanning in order to reduce motion blur that is inherent to the sample-and-hold method the liquid crystal displays work with. It needs to be said that the M602i-B3 has considerably higher Clear Action index of 720 vs 180 on the E600i-B3, which most likely reflects upon the ability of  the former to utilize the motion estimation motion compensation technology in order to generate more intermediate frames (controlled by the Smooth Motion Effect menu entry on the M602i-B3). Thus, the M-series is better suited for fast motion programming, such as sports and action movies.

The E600i-B3 has 3 HDMI ports while the M602i-B3 has 4. There is 1 USB input on either of the two. Internet connection can be established either using the built-in Wi-Fi module, or the single Ethernet port each of them has in order to be able to use VIZIO Internet Apps Plus platform that both are equipped with. That said, the full QWERTY keyboard that's placed on the one side of the M602i-B3 double-sided remote, makes typing quicker on the M-series in comparison to the E-series which includes a standard remote.

Vizio specifies an almost identical power consumption for the two: 85W for the E600i-B3 and 86.3W for the M602i-B3. This figure may vary depending on your chosen settings for Backlight (cannot be adjusted in all picture modes), Brightness and Contrast, among others.
