Sharp LE857 vs LE757 (LC-70LE857U vs LC-70LE757U; LC-60LE857U vs LC-60LE757U)

The LE857 has a new high-brightness panel, as well as a picture engine that analyzes the input signal and enhances the contrast between the dark and the bright portions of the image. This leads to the following differences with the LE757:

  • As they both have the active 3D system on-board, which is generally dimmer in comparison to the passive variant due to the shutter glasses blocking too much light, the extra brightness the LE857U is capable of helps for this shortcoming of the active 3D system to be overcome, so the result is more immersive 3D experience.
  • The presence of a contrast engine makes the 8-series more suitable for watching movies, while the quadrupled effective refresh rate (or AquoMotion 960) gives the flagship set the upper-hand when it comes to sports. Even though the LE757U touts only doubled refresh rate (AquoMotion 480), the difference between them is not huge, because they both have 240Hz panels and are diversified by the rate of the backlight scanning.
  • The Quattron color technology can be found on either of them, so you get to benefit from the added yellow subpixel to the traditional red, green and blue ones, which manifests itself in more vivid colors, regardless of which one of the two you choose.
