- The most substantial difference is the inclusion of the local dimming on the GA7900 and its absence from the step-down model. The point of this technique is to improve the contrast between the bright and dark portions of an image by the means of dimming the LEDs that illuminate the dark sections. However, it needs to be taken into account that an edge-lit TV such as the GA7900 can only have a limited number of dimming zones, which also narrows the effectiveness thereof. While the local dimming won't deliver fundamentally deeper black color on the step-up model in comparison to the GA6400, it has one useful side effect to it: in the rare occasion there are any artifacts originating from the light distribution being uneven, they will be kept hidden.
- Due to having a panel with 240Hz native refresh rate, the GA7900 has the upper-hand in terms of its suitability for action movies and sports. The step-down model has a 120Hz panel, but the additional video processing dubbed TruMotion is present on both, so that the motion blur and judder can further be decreased in either of them.
- Each unit from the GA6400 and the GA7900 series has 4 HDMI and 3 USB ports, in addition to an Ethernet port and built-in Wi-Fi.
- Either of them is equipped with the passive 3D system, and there are 4 pairs of polarized 3D glasses included with any set of the two ranges.
The GA6400 is available in the 60-Inch 60GA6400, the 55-Inch 55GA6400, the 50-Inch 50GA6400, the 47-Inch 47GA6400, and also in the 42-Inch 42GA6400 class.
